HAVOC Kickboxing

HAVOC Kickboxing is a UK based Kickboxing club with a primary focus to teach tried and tested techniques, from the arts of Kickboxing and Muay Thai, which are suitable for use in competition.

What is Kickboxing?

Kickboxing is a group of stand-up combat sports primarily using kicking and punching techniques. It was historically developed from Karate later mixing in techniques from Boxing & Muay Thai after many years of competitive evolution. Kickboxing has grown to become one of the most exciting striking based combat sports today.

Instructor - Lei Bridges

Lei started learning martial arts from the age of ten. He began his journey at a young age training in Shotokan Karate but was forced to give it up due to difficulties during childhood. Later, when old enough to make his own decisions he then went on to train in Bujinkan Ninjutsu for three years under Shidoshi Jim Hough at the Kokoro Dojo in Nottingham. The club eventually moved out of the city so Lei moved to China for two years, casually studying Wushu & Tai Chi.

Lei then returned to the UK and, after serving the British Armed Forces for six years in the Royal Artillery, he was introduced to combat sports. In 2010 Lei took up Full Contact Kickboxing at St George Kickboxing Club, run by Shaun Greatorex. Lei spent two years training under Shaun before the club was closed down due to tenancy issues and, eager to continue his training, Lei began his search for a new club.

Lei spent another two years training in Kickboxing & Muay Thai at Bulwell Fight Factory, fighting multiple times in Muay Thai & Kickboxing & winning the WRSA English Full Contact Kickboxing title. Eventually Lei left Bulwell Fight Factory and wanting to give something back to the combat sports community that he had learned so much from, Lei set up his own club teaching and competing in Muay Thai & Kickboxing under the name Three Arrows. After a good two year run, along with with several fighters on the roster, the club was forced to shut down due to the site being sold.

Lei decided to take a break from teaching to gain some more experience and, due to a lack of Muay Thai clubs in Nottingham, started training in Muay Thai at Thai-Tanium Gym in Leicester under IKF World Champion Jamie Knox. During this period Lei also spent time in Thailand training under Kru Manop at Yokkao Gym, before returning back to the UK to fight for the WKA English K1 Rules Kickboxing title. Lei eventually left Thai-Tanium, under good terms, and moved to Spirit Dojo in Nottingham run by Bellator & ex UFC fighter Paul Daley where he currently trains, alongside teaching at HAVOC Kickboxing where he is the official Kickboxing advisor for HAVOC JKD.
